how do i get netflix to work on my computer?

my cousin and i were trying to watch netflix on my laptop together because it has a bigger screen than her phone but all its giving me is a black screen, theres no sound its just a black screen. ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling the silverlight thing and it still didnt work. i downloaded firefox to see if thatd work but it just gave me the black screen again. i usually use google chrome and i read that some people who had the same problem as me switched over to firefox and said it worked for them but its not working for me. what can i do to get netflix to work on my laptop?
