I'm opening a business in just over a month. I have started a bit of marketing, but I have not told anyone when we are starting operations. When would be the best time to start a facebook account and let people know about us and our starting date?

I'd say about a month so the word can travel and a month is the perfect time.

Different types of advertising require different timetables.

It can take a while to develop a successful online marketing campaign, so I'd recommend starting that at least four months in advance of your opening. Or in other words, ASAP.

About a couple of weeks before you open, I would recommend launching a direct mail campaign. This can attract local and national customers to check out your store, and you can even personalize your messages for each recipient.
