Help Me: should I ask this girl out?

i frequently text this girl (emma). ive got to know her pretty well. im not sure whether to ask her out or not. i asked a buddy ( jack) to ask his girlfriend ( elouise) if emma has a boyfriend. they didn't mention my name to emma but they said that she doesn't have a boyfriend and apparently im like the only guy she actually talks to/texts! (she's a nerd in her school). but apparently emma also said to elouise that she is not really interested in boys at the moment. im not sure if its cos we have exams soon or if she is just trying to defend the fact that she doesn't text other guys or she is just too involved with school or if she's just not interested in me.

Should i ask her out? What's a good way to ask someone out over text/fb message? I can't ask her in person cos we don't really see each other and i don't want a rejection.
also, some of her friends asked me if i talked to her and were saying something about loving etc

I don't think she's interested in you so if you don't want to be rejected don't ask her out.
