Where is our secondary mailbox on Facebook?
Back in 2012, Facebook was planning to charge a dollar for messages to people who were not your FB friend. We got that option one time and instead of paying we just sent the message and hoped the person would get it. Lately when we send people messages there is no "pay" option. Where is our secondary mail box where messages from non friends go? Do they still charge the fee?
I guess the question is that since we get e-mails telling us we got a message from a FB friend, do we get an e-mail that we have a message from a non FB friend? We have not had an option to pay $1 in recent months so it almost seems like they no longer charge $1. Maybe they tried it and it was not accepted well by the FB community and they canceled the fee.
Well only 10 months ago:

Well if you click on messages on the left side of your FB page, you'll see at the top an Inbox is bold black letters, and to the right of that "other" mailbox that can contain messages sent from non FB friends. Unless the FB person sees the other box, they may never read the message from non members. And FB might even delete those after a time period. Yes, Facebook has an option to pay and I'll post the link soon.

Regular Messages you send to someone you're not connected to on Facebook may arrive in their Other folder. However, you may have the option of paying to route these messages to their inbox instead.

When this delivery option is available, you'll see the price beneath your message. The recipient won't receive notification that your message used a paid delivery option.

Because we limit the number of messages a person can receive in their inbox from people they're not connected to, you may not always have this delivery option.
There is an "inbox" for messages from FB friends. There is also an "other" box for messages from non friends. And I'm told the non friend messages get deleted by FB after x number of days or weeks. And the recipient may never see the other mailbox. Paying the dollar at least got the messages delivered. Not paying the $ does not, unless you are their FB friend.

If you click on the messages button on the top of your screen when your on facebook a thing will open and on the menu there will be your recent messages and towards the top will be a tab called Other click on that.
