There has to be an internet connection at the comms chamber, but I doubt it can be freely used by the crew, because of the signature it would produce. Especially if it carries SLBMs, expect nobody but the captain using it.

commercial/public access? nope only when in port or maybe surfaced. otherwise any connection is for official message traffic only.

In a sub, you'll spend most of your patrol, if not just about all of it, 500 feet beneath the waves. I know of no internet service that reach that far into water.

No you will not have it while underway BUT you will be able to access your @navy.mil email messages because that is now how they are sent instead of family grams (47 words). Those emails are read twice before released for OPSEC and PERSEC violations and will not always go through or if they do then it can be a partial message as well. Many emails like family grams are not read by those who are suppose to receive them but instead Nemo and Dori.
