Whats wrong with my internet?
So i've been having spikes in my internet and I cant figure out why, I have called my ISP here numerous times and they can't figure it out.. I just ran a test on my wireless computer in another room without the router in it and got 9 mbs on a 50 mbs service... now If I plug my laptop into the modem I get 2 mbs on the laptop but 44mbs on my wireless computer.. wtf?
sorry when I plug my laptop into the router.. not modem

Maybe you have exceeded your limit, or you just need to switch service providers.

Several thoughts cross my mind. First, if you are getting a faster speed connecting wirelessly than when hardwired it sounds as though there is a problem with your router. You could try disconnecting your router and plugging directly into your modem, if your speed goes up to 50mbs then your router is bad. You can not trust what you get on a "wireless" connection because it depends on signal strength of the wireless connection as to what percentage of the 50 mbs. With a poor signal strength you could get less than 1mbs. If you hook directly up to your modem (not router) and don't get close to 50mbs then the problem is your ISP. We have 25mbs and one time our service became sporadic with some days at 25 and other days less than 5 or no connection at all. Our ISP kept telling us everything looked good at their end and I eventually demanded a service person come out. When she arrived the hooked up their meter and said everything looked fine but she would check our connection on the pole. She came back with a 3 foot piece of cable that squirrels had chewed through the insulation and damaged the shielding that was allowing interference on our line. Our internet has been stable for months since she replaced that piece of cable.
