Please help me in this! Most youtube videos play sound but no videos!
tried all of them, nothing worked, however, copying the video link into IE worked perfectly fine, so I guess it is something with mozilla and chrome

Please do as follows:
Clear internet browser's history and cookies.
Update: Windows/Mac, Browser, Java, Adobe flash player and Adobe shockwave player.
Restart computer if it still does not work means you need video codecs.
The best and free one is K-Lite. Just note when you install K-Lite codecs during installation put check marks where you need and install. Restart computer and you should watch videos without any problem. Some time we need to update Audio/video codecs and computer drivers specially Video graphic card's driver. Better update them if you can.

Yeah. They are video-audios like video songs. People who wanna share the sounds on youtube usually convert the recorded audio to a video format without screen via a tool like aneesoft or other video converter. So, some of them just play sound but no video. You can also do it for fun.

Your ''Cache'' (Temp Internet Files), "Virtual Memory'' and/or "PageFiling'' may be full
and cannot take anymore.  Simply delete your Cache (plus "Cookies" and "History"),
then clear your Memory with a shutdown & reboot.  Afterwards, you will freak at how
good and trouble-free YouTube will be.  Also, if you have an 'Adblock', try disabling it.

Mozilla Firefox:
→  Tools  →  Options  →  Privacy ('key')  →  Clear Now
[x] Browsing History
[x] Cache
[x] Cookies
[x] Offline Website Data
[x] Authenticated Sessions
→  Clear Private Data Now

Google Chrome:
→  ≡  or wrench  → Tools  →  Clear browsing data
→  the beginning of time ▼
[x] Clear browsing history
[x] Empty the cache
[x] Delete cookies and other site and plug-in data
→  Clear browsing data

Internet Explorer 9 and 10:
→  Gear (icon)  →  Safety  →  Delete browsing history
[x] Temporary Internet files and website files
[x] Cookies and website data
[x] History
→  Delete

Internet Explorer 11:
→  Settings ('gear' icon on the far right side)  →  Options
(then under History)  →  "Select"
[x] Cached images
[x] Cookies
[x] Browsing History
→  Delete

Don't forget to completely shutdown & reboot afterwards.

:-)
