Laptop internet connection problems!?

Okay, so I have a Gateway laptop on Windows 8. It says I'm connected to a network and when I try to pull up the browser, it says Im not connected. I tried testing the connection and it says there is nothing wrong. I restarted and updated my laptop and everything and I'm at a loss. Someone help me out, please.

Your notebook may be connected to the network, but does the wifi router/modem register an active internet connection? Sometimes you may need to access the portal to enable the internet connection. Depending on your wifi router/modme, you may need to open up your browser and navigating towards the default I.P address of that device to access it ehile in its network.

They usually have something like 192.168.1.1. But differs from make and model
