How do I stop random websites open while I'm in Google Chrome?

Most of the time, whenever I click on something in Google Chrome, a random website will open up in a new tab, sometimes in a new window and it's starting to annoy me. If you could help me, I would be very thankful. Thanks.

go to your control panel to uninstall unnecessary programs you may have accidentally installed into your computer, that usually causes the random opening pages and websites.
