When you actually use the google submission, your site is put into a queue and your spot could be several months away. It can take a long time before google will index your site.

The quickest way to get your site listed on google is to NOT use their tool.

Before you do anything, you need to make sure your site is optimized for the search engine. Adding meta tags will slightly help as most search engines put most of the weight on the actual content. Google "seo best practices" for more information on how to do this.

Anyways, the best way to get list is:
DO NOT submit your site to google using their submission form @ http://www.google.com/addurl/. Only do this as a last resort. If you use their submission form, you are put into a queue which can take up to a month or longer before google reaches your spot.

To get your site indexed faster along with some other benefits, join some forums that pertain to your site's content and post it there. Search google to get what it thinks are important sites. Make sure you do this on several sites to increase your chance of being found. Also make sure the forums can be read by the public. It will do you no good if the search engine can't "read" your post. Another thing you will need to look out for, is following the forum's rules/guidelines. Do not spam your link and some forums do not allow you to post a link at all and your post will be removed.

Some other benefits include that since you have some sites linking to you, google will actually think your site is more important than if you just used their submission tool.

So... if your site is about dog breeding, search google for "dog breeding forums" or "dog forums". Select a few of the first sites because google probably indexes them several times a week or more. Register and post your link to your website. Google should have your page within a week or 2.

You can also google other dogs sites and contact them to see if they will trade links with you(ie. you put their link on your site and then contact them and show them and ask them to put your link on their site.) The more quality content relevant sites that you have linking to you will make your site more important.

I assume when you mention post my site in google you mean how does it show up in the search results. 1) you can use their submission tool which they state may or may not work. or 2) Find another website/directory that takes request for inclusion. I suggest performing a search within google for the best match to your intended audience. Ex. If your website is about comic books, search for comic book directories and submit your website using their add your site feature. What you are doing is making your website easily found by taking advantage of a site that google already knows about.
