Compare the different hardware and software troubleshooting tools that could be used for resolving a customer who has reported she has no internet connection.
Its a LAN connection with the right up to date drivers.

I think that questing is unique to that job you are applying to since it sounds like a standard procedure that your company are using.

How is she connecting the internet?
Wireless or LAN
Has she got the right drivers ?
Are they up to date ?
Is the cable that she is using working( no breaks)

Do Physical First.
Check Lights on LAN Card.
Is Connection LED on?
Is Data Light On?
Check Cable is secure in Card
Check Cable is secure in Network Outlet
Check Outlet is connected to Switch.

If No Light, yet all cables are secure, replace Patch Cables.
Test again.

Does user Have correct IP Address?
Does User Have Correct DNS Settings?
Does User have Correct Gateway Settings.

Ping From PC to Switch, is switch replying
Ping from PC To Gateway, Is Gateway replying
