how do I restore internet explorer?

I have windows 8 and my internet explorer doesnt open any website.what should I do?

I have windows 7 and I started having the same problem. I would open ie, and it kept "encountering an error" and having to close. Then it would try to reopen, but do the same thing, over and over. I ended up using Chrome, downloading ie11, installing it, and everything is fine EXCEPT that ie11 won't show some google-owned websites fully functionally, like Blogger. No biggie, I just switch to Chrome for those.

first things first. Is your computer even connected to the internet?
I ask because Windows 8.1 upgrade broke my wireless and I had to switch to a wired connection. I never was able to fix it.
