I can connect to the internet but not my router?
I have a Belkin G Wireless Router F5D7234-4 V5. When I try to connect to my router so I set up the wireless network it wont allow me. All I get is error messages. I have tried everything! I've tried resetting my router several times with the 3 different methods, yet it always fails. I've tried with my computer hardwired & wireless. I've searched YouTube, Google, and Bing, with no luck. I've been to the Belkin website and couldn't find anything about my router, except how to set it up. I've also tried going through 3 different internet connection; Firefox, internet explorer, & Google chrome. The only thing I haven't tried is actually calling Belkin. Can someone please help me?!?!

Well, first thing, you MUST use a wired connection to configure the device. Then you use your browser to go to http://192.168.0.1 which is the router's IP address on your network. Some routers use different IP addresses, such as 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1. Your documentation should tell you what the IP address is that it assumes when it powers up. Perform a reset to factory default conditions. Your documentation should tell you exactly HOW to do this hard reset. In my case, I pull the power plug, press and hold the reset button and then apply power. The sequence of lights tells me when I can release the reset button which completes the factory default reset, which is about 15 seconds or so. Then I log in with the default "admin" user with a password of "admin" and I'm off and running. First thing, change the default admin password, then make the settings your ISP told you to use and log out. Restart the router. The internet should now be available to you. Again, log in and configure the wireless portion. Most wireless routers default to an OPEN/PUBLIC connection, meaning NO password is required, and anyone can access your internet connection, which is called leeching. Write down the passwords you use and tape it to the router. The wireless password is NOT the same as the admin password. Some people are confused about that tidbit and fail to change the default wireless password and then wonder why they get hacked by an outsider.
