I have a Toshinba laptop from 2009, doesn't make sound.?

It was fine at first. Then (I don't know when) something happened with the sound and I noticed that it only made sound on the first tab that was opened (I used google chrome) and so it wasn't really bad, but then it made this noise screeching/horrific loud noise depending of the volume, and after that there was no sound except the noise. I fixed the noise by doing things with the microphone in the harware and sound thing. Now the only way I can listen to things on my laptop is by putting speakers and headphones in the input hoe. I don't like doing it because it bothers me. The only was to make my computer itself make the sound is by putting speakers/headphones in the hole next to the headset hole but after about 2 minutes of listening the sound just shuts off again leaving me to go top the sounds and click recording or sound and then the sound comes back but the sound time limit shortens everytime I click recording and sounds or take my headset out of the hole next to the headset hole. I have Windows 7

Toshiba is trash you will having nothing but problems from heat buildup to hard drive crashes and on and on.
