Online on Facebook?

Facebook displays your friends on the right hand side of the screen, showing online status'.

It either says:

Web • (in green)
Mobile • (in green)
[Phone symbol]
[Phone symbol] followed by time last online

Now, do the first two in green mean that the person is on the page/app right now or that it is open in the background

Does the phone symbol mean they have it open in the background?

Web means the person is online. The phone thingy means they are on the cell phone.

When The Phone icon Appears That Means They Are Signed in On There Phone But May Not Be Using the App or Messenger App at the Moment

The Time Just Tells You Thats When They Were Last Active
