Will I get in trouble for using Internet at work?
It was slow at work so I decided to use the company computer to go on youtube. But a message popped up and said something like "content blocked. using computer for personal use is prohibited and can result in termination" and at the bottom it had my user id.

I'm so scared now of what is going to happen. I know my job monitors internet use but all my coworkers go online for personal use! And nothing ever happened to them! But they never got the popup message I got.

What do u think will happen? Am I going to get fired? I'm so terrified.

Just say it was an accident. Generally they do not give you trouble unless you do it repeatedly. Take it as a warning and do not use the work computer for personal use ever. I doubt they will even mention it to you.

If they do, just tell them you were trying to look something up that was work related. It does mean they are watching the system though so you want to make sure you never try to use the computer for personal use again. Once is not going to get you fired, relax.

If you did it all the time then you should be worried.

How easy is it to accidentally click the wrong link on a computer, make an accident and end up at the wrong location? All the time. I think it would be highly unreasonable to terminate someone for that.
