Legit online gift card sites?

I want to send my cousin an online gift card but I don't know which site would be the best and how does that even work?
Do they get the card straight to their cellular device and just have stores scan the code on their phone?

Have you considered an amazon gift card? They can use it to buy anything on amazon adn of course amazon has a massive selection of stuff. They get emailed the code for th card and add it to their accoutn and spend away!

No advice on the other kind i'm afraid, i haven't used them.
