I feel kind of old, but I need another device to get online with.

If I buy ANY smartphone that has WiFi, can I use it to connect to a free hotspot at library or on my home router too?

Do I have to have a contract or pay money? Can I just use the WiFi feature to get online free?

PLEASE HELP!!!

free things hardly come free.

the publicly available hotspots are renowned for being pested with malware.

but you can connect your phone much like any other wifi device into your current home wifi.
