How can I overcome this stupid jealousy?
Okay, so I'm a singer, actress, dancer, musician, but my main focus is singing. I recently changed schools and there is a girl in my year who is like a REAL budding singer like, wants to be a popstar, singer. Anyway, she has videos of her singing on YouTube and a page on Facebook, like a fan page and in the profile pic, she's singing into a recording mic and so on. It's making me reeeeeally jealous of her because she is getting really far in the music biz and she has all this professional music equipment whereas I don't and it's really annoying me now. How can I get over this EXTREME jealousy??

Be better. If she has something you want, get it too, nothing is wrong with a little bit copying :-)
Or find something you are good at and she is not, whatever: scrabble, cooking, math, emotional stability, prettier nails... |

hi,
Don't worry, jealousy (or envy) is a great thing. It drives a person into action. At least you now know, more clearly, that this is your goal. I'm not saying you wont feel a pinch, someone else is living your dream but we never have a monopoly over success, beauty, wealth, talent or anything. many people can have the same dream and live it. she cannot stop you, just like you cannot stop her. What's important is to use this jealousy as inspiration to take your next step, to set small goals and achieve them. maybe you can even become friends with her, its hard to find like minded people. i'm sure you can find a common ground some day. who knows - you could sing together. **i know its difficult to ignore competition when it's in your face but the world is huge, there are millions of other aspiring singers out there you cant let one person affect you so much. |
