Google chrome is being weird?

It was working normally, and then I must have changed it to a different mode accidentally because it's basically opened this new thing where there's a grey bar at the bottom of google chrome which displays the time and an app, google chrome, mail, google search, google docs and a youtube icon. Right clicking on this bar gives the options 'auto-hide shelf' and 'shelf position' (if this helps anyone identify what this is). It's so annoying because it means I have to switch to get to the desktop everytime to have all my programmes like word document which are usually pinned at the bottom.

Please help!

It's acting weird because you changed modes and have to get used to the new version
