I would like to start a website where kids can vent and talk about problems and things on their mind, a place where others can reach out to those in need and help stop childhood depression and suicide, but how can I let people know about my site? Any help is welcome, I'm also looking for a good name for the site.

Read up on SEO, getting found by search engines is the best way to get free traffic, having pages on lots of social sites that link to your site help as well.

I'm sure there are already too many sites like that out there that get very little traffic, setting up an appropriate forum site is more challenging than a simple blog, you could just become an active participant on some active forum and probably have more impact than making a new site getting 3 visits a day....
