does she not want to be my friend?
a couple months ago, i had a group interview for a job at a hotel. we had to work with a partner for some of the interview questions. so i worked with this girl who just happened to have the same name as me. so we kinda bonded over that, and also she was really nice. we both ended up not being selected for the job. they only picked people who were already hired by the hotel. anyway, so after the interview, she gave me her card and told me i should add her on facebook. i messaged her that night and said it was nice meeting her and that we should hang out sometime. she invited me to a hookah lounge that night. since i don't smoke hookah, i said i couldn't go, but would love to hang out another time. just not into that stuff. anyway, we have not hung out still. so on saturday i sent her a message saying how we should get brunch sometime since we haven't gotten a chance to hang out yet. i saw she read the message, but she didn't reply Sad does she not want to be my friend? she's always liking my posts and stuff on facebook. so i thought she liked me.

Your mistake was, not going to the hookah lounge. You could have only gone to hang out, not to smoke. How will she hang out if you couldn't. Ask her to pick a place.

She probably thinks because you declined first that you're not interested in hanging out

I think the way you declined her invitation was perfectly fine, and you have made it clear that you want to meet her again by suggesting brunch. There can be many reasons why she hasn't replied to your message, even if she read it. She may not have had an answer for you right then and later forgot to reply. I have done that very thing myself. So I suggest you try contacting her again, and give her a few specific choices with regard to dates and activities, and say that you are also open to other suggestions if there's something she really wants to do. And it is perfectly ok for you to tell her that a hookah lounge is not really your thing, I would have done the same thing.
