We found that it did. We had a router hooked up to our old flat screen... before they had HDMI outputs so I bought a small router just for that. Shortly afterwards, our entire internet system kept going down, sometimes every 5 minutes. The answer for us was to streamline and to get a higher download speed from our carrier.

NO, your internet work fine it does not matter it connect through 2 routers/switch or more than 2.

If your downloading speed and internet speed are very slow, it means your internet plan is not good, You should change your plan into 4 MBPS to 8 MBPS...
