Do Facebook have the right to do this?

Do Facebook have the right to do this?
I talk to role players on Facebook, people who role player characters from movies, films, books, shows, etc. I used to role play a character myself. But Facebook have been deactivating their accounts as they aren't real people. It sucks but i get it in a way. But the thing is they've also been deactivating people's real accounts or suspending them for 3 weeks for talking with role players. A friend of mine has been suspended for 3 weeks and i've been threatened with the same if i carry on talking to them. Now that shouldn't be allowed. I think what they are doing there is wrong.

Fair enough deactivate all the role players. But you can't stop someone from talking to them on their real accounts. Alot of them have real accounts themselves that i've added to mine and chat with and we're still being hounded for it and being told off. Where is it right in this? It's wrong i know it. It has to be illegal. Facebook can't choose your friends for you be them role players or not.

And no none of the role players have been causing trouble, being abusive, violent, threatening, nothing. All they do and all i did with them was role play the characters we choose to be and goof off. We were never abusive or cyber bullied anyone. We'd just have a laugh with each other. And we all had disclaimers on our profiles saying that we did not own any of the pictures and we weren't the real actors either as well as the Verified Official Role Player tags.

Role players have been on Facebook for years. I was there a few months. And now they decide to get rid of them all. But why? It started on Christmas Eve and since then hundreds have gone.

But the thing that makes me really mad is being told i shouldn't talk to the ones that are still left. They are still real people behind them. So Facebook should not be allowed to threaten people with 3 weeks suspension of they talk to people.

How is going on a role players wall and saying Morning! How are you today? and then replying something like Hiya! I'm good wbu? so wrong? It's ridiculous. And if my real account goes then i'll be taking legal action or at least looking into it to see if they are allowed to do this. So, does anyone know if they are?

Sorry this was so long and if you read it all then thank you. Please no smart comments with something like role playing omg get a life! I want serious answers that can help me. It's morally wrong. Facebook are trying to choose my friends and who i talk too.

Thanks, Lisa Michelle x x lol x x

Yes, they can. You sign away pretty much all your rights when you create the account.

It may not be right, but it's their choice since its their server. They can delete someone just because they don't like them

Sorry but if you sign up to FaceBook they own you body & soul - bwwhaha !

Seriously, it is their site & just because they allow you to use part of it, that part isn't really yours.
It's a bit like being a lodger in someone else's house, your room is your room, but really it belongs to your landlord.
Your landlord may be unreasonable in telling you who you can & cannot be friends with, but they do have a perfect right to say who they will allow in their house, or who you talk to on their phone.

If you really want to maintain your friendship with these people, then you will have to find another place to talk to them.

I don't think you will get very far trying to sue them.

That is not cool. I don't think they should be able to do that. Its basically saying who you can and can't talk to, which they aren't allowed to do, I think.

Basically, yes Facebook has the right to do this because when you accept their Terms of Service.

QUOTE:
# Registration and Account Security

Facebook users provide their real names and information, and we need your help to keep it that way. Here are some commitments you make to us relating to registering and maintaining the security of your account:

1. You will not provide any false personal information on Facebook, or create an account for anyone other than yourself without permission.
2. You will not create more than one personal profile.
3. If we disable your account, you will not create another one without our permission.
4. You will not use your personal profile for your own commercial gain (such as selling your status update to an advertiser).
5. You will not use Facebook if you are under 13.
6. You will not use Facebook if you are a convicted sex offender.
7. You will keep your contact information accurate and up-to-date.
8. You will not share your password, (or in the case of developers, your secret key), let anyone else access your account, or do anything else that might jeopardize the security of your account.
9. You will not transfer your account (including any page or application you administer) to anyone without first getting our written permission.
10. If you select a username for your account we reserve the right to remove or reclaim it if we believe appropriate (such as when a trademark owner complains about a username that does not closely relate to a user's actual name).

So yes, basically they can delete roleplay accounts.
I'm a roleplayer; I think it sucks but there's not much you can do about it.
