Can dowloading music from iTunes cause my internet to disconnect?

This question ties in with the post entitled "Why does my internet keep timing out? What causes this?". I went to the iTunes FAQ/Apple support and sent them an email about this, but I don't know where they're going to respond to my message. Every time I download an album, at first my internet would be working just fine, but then the next day when it gets towards the afternoon, it disconnects. I have been having this issue since December of 2013. I don't know much about computers or how Apple support works, but I really, REALLY want to get to the bottom of this problem once and for all. What do I do? Do I stop downloading music from iTunes? Or do I get a new router?
Also, my antivirus software is almost expiring, could that also be as to why my internet is repeatedly disconnecting?

The connection issue has something to do with either your internet service provider, your actual phone or cable lines coming into your house, the overall usage in your area or in your house, and what plan you went with (basic, medium, fast/premium speed, etc...). It has nothing to do with what program you are using or downloading.

You need to call your internet service provider, the company that provides your internet and have them make a service call to your house. They can test the signal and tell you whats going on.
