How does selling on eBay work?
I am selling a PS3 on eBay. This is also my first time selling something on their and I'm wondering how is the seller protected? What if the buyer never receives their package? I recently tried selling it on Craigslist, but everyone wanted to me to ship it and send them my PayPal account so I could pay, but I read how it would be a scam, because the buyer will either send a fake PayPal email or take the money back since PayPal isn't protected. I heard that Ebay was protected, so I'm wondering how can I sell and ship my PS3 safely without scammers or losing money

First- Ebay and Paypal are owned by the same company. They are safe- both of them. They are in the biz to make money so the safer it is for you- the better for them. Paypal is the best way to pay and get paid. Secure and fast. No one sees your private info. I've been using both for over 10 years with no problems. I would NEVER sell on Craigslist- too easy for crazies to find you.
Selling and buying on Ebay are both explained thoroughly in their tutorials. An easy read and very easy to understand. Please take the time to READ THEM. its what they are there for- you will be an educated seller.
If you sell your PS3 then have them pay you through Paypal- make sure the payment has gone through by checking your account. It will show on your Ebay account (sellers) too but I always check Paypal too. DO NOT mail anything (I cannot believe how many people do this) before you get paid. If you are unsure- mail the item with insurance and a delivery confirmation- what is 1-4$ for peace of mind? Ebay will charge tyou a % of your final price you received and Paypal will charge you a % of the monies. That's how they make money. As a buyer using Paypal you don't get charged.

you get delivery confirmation or tracking to prove it was delivered. you can further protect yourself by getting signature confirmation.

since its your first time, dont sell internationally.

DONT SHIP UNTIL PAYMENT CLEARS. that means you see the money in your actual paypal account, not some email telling you youve been paid.

check out the buyer's feedback rating. maybe you can put in your listing you wont sell to anyone with under a certain amount of positive feedback. not sure if thats really allowed so look into it
