Why did over half of my Instagram followers disappear?

So I have around 1470 followers on Instagram.. Today I gained a few and I went to my page to view it and now my profile reads 620 followers! I checked on some of those sites that show your full follower list, and all of them are still there. Instagram for some reason is only showing 620. Has anyone else had this issue? I have reported it to IG, but haven't heard anything. It's highly frustrating though.

I haven't used a website to gain followers. I also find it unlikely that 850 of my 1470 followers were fake. I could see maybe 100, but I have a lot of interaction with a fair amount of the people on there. @abraXus

they delete the fake accounts every once and a while - and if you used one of those websites to get followers, that's what happens

try refreshing it maybe they're doing something and if it doesn't change..............well just accept the reality..............i'm sorry
