they regulate advertising so that it is a true representation of what is being advertised and does not offend areas of public and that they can make an informed choice that is reliable it does what it says on the tin in other words information that is required by law must be clearly visible they stop misrepresentation it is complicated but they are there to prevent advertising fooling the public by claiming things they shouldn't
