If you anticipate using it for the internet, I would go with a 5 minimum since it's an LTE phone (faster downloads). The 4s is a 3g phone (it's 4g on AT&T but not 4gLTE). If you don't anticipate using much data, the 4S would be fine.

An iPhone is expensive especially on pre pay. I WOULDnt get it Because then you WOULD want a new phone when another iPhone or Samsung phone come out. Are there any other options for you! I think having a 300-400 phone that's not on Contract is ridiculous. Get u something like straight talk. B.Y.O.D PROGRAM THEY HAVE! ON STRAIGHT TALK I DONT KNOW IF U HEARD OF IT BUT IF U HAVE A PHONE WITH A SIM CARD SLOT THAT'S ON TMOBILE OR AT&T U COULD BUY A SIM CARD FROM STRAIGHT. ITS 25 DOLLARS. THEY WILL SENT U THE CARD AND INSTRUCTIONS. TO ACTIVATE THE PHONE U WOULD HAVE TO GO TO WIFI AND CHANGE THE APN WHICH IS EASY. JUST PUT THE CODE IN AND THEN THERE U GO. IF U WANT A PHONE FOR STRAIGHT TALK BYOD ,JUST GET U A PHONE FROM EBAY! OR ANY WHERE U CHOOSE. STRAIGHT TALK HAS UNLIMITED TALK TEXT WEB PICTURE TEXT ALL FOR 45 A MONTH: )
OR IF U DONT WANT TO U COULD JUST GET A PHONE FROM WALMART. STRAIGHT TALK OF COURSE ND PURCHASE U A SAMSUNG CENTRA WHICH IS 99 DOLLARS FOR THE PHONE 45 A MONTH FOR THE PLAN. THATS WHAT I WOULD DO IF I WAS N YOUR SITUATION. GOOD LUCK.

If you're thinking about getting the 4S now, screw it. You should get an android instead then. You'll hate it because once you get it, you'll be used to the fast speed that 4g has, and then when you use the iPhone it will seem so slow... trust me. My old phone broke, and so I got my dad's old 4S he had to use for work even though he hates iPhones, (he convinced his boss to let him use Android later on, so he left the iPhone) and so when my phone broke, he just gave me his old iPhone. It was so slow and I hated it so much because it was so slow. On my old phone it was 4G LTE, so it was pretty fast. And then when I use my 4S, omg... I've had it for months now and I still get super annoyed because it takes forever to load. The only thing that Apple is better than Android for is that Apple has a better App Store, and they have way cooler cases. So if those two things really matter to you, like so much, then if you're willing to go to a 3G rate... go for it. You may or may not regret it. 4G and 3G is such a big difference, and going back to 3G is painful. (maybe a little dramatic, but I've hated the speed.) I'm a person who loves my phone. I love using my Tumblr and Instagram, and going on Reddit and whatever. I'm internet obsessed, what can I say? if you're a hipster, you kind of need iPhones because they have the best editing apps ever. Android isn't that great when it comes to editing apps, so that's what I mean when I say that Apple has a better App Store. But other than that, Android's App Store is pretty good. Their editing apps aren't bad, I've used them forever, but I can't make as cool edits as I can with my iPad. So, it really depends on what matters to you in a phone. I'm saying to go for another 4G phone, because there isn't a point in getting a 4S now, not now. Maybe a year or two ago, but not now. The speed is so slow, and if you've already had a 4G phone, then you'll hate your iPhone for a few months before sucking it up and getting used to waiting a lot. But even then, five months later and I'm still comparing it to my old phone's speed, which was lightning fast. I still think to myself "If I had an Android with 4G at least, or a newer iPhone, I wouldn't have to wait so long..." so yeah. In the end, it's up to you. Do some research and you can decide what is most important to you, and if the whole editing apps is a necessity for you, and the really cool cases (which Android cases aren't ugly, it's just that there are so many kinds of Android phones to choose from, so they can't make as many cool cases, whereas there is only one kind of iPhone for each generation, so they just have to make one model and be done with it.) And that's the other thing, Android has a lot more phones to choose from. There are so many models and companies you can choose from, because Android is used by a lot of companies, whereas Apple is just one company, and so Android is progressing a lot faster than Apple is. Ever since Jobs passed, Apple has been... not so great. They're at its peak at this point. So, I think you should go for another 4G phone.
