how to get my site to show up in google before yelp?
When you google my business name, my yelp account link comes up before my own website. This is really annoying, and I don't even have any reviews yet so it makes it look like my business is slow or new which are false.

How can I get my own site to show up before yelp? I use weebly for my site so it lets you edit some SEO words directly on the settings. Any advice would be appreciated thank you!

the more links you have going to your website the better.

submit your website link to directories like http://www.li-nks.com which will help with your website google rankings

google Incentive based Classifieds, my site shows up. Why? Because when I post link, I use that as the anchor text. Showing up in Yelp is not a bad thing, FYI. Also 9 out of 10 people are not googling your site, they will be "googling" your anchor words.

Google is more about off page optimization like link building and to an extent +1's to your site and so you need to get few more links to your site with your business name as anchor text and that can help you outrank yelp for your business name.

Your yelp page may be ranking well in Google for your business name because it could have some good quality internal links (links from yelp other page). What you can do is add links to your home page from all your internal page with your business name as anchor text and that may help as well. Weebly site's are not very good when it comes to internal link structure like you don't have the option of breadcrumb and other such things.

The best way to explain this is that when you google your own website business name

Everything on the web that has you listed in them and that is an authority website will likely come up before you.

E.g. even if you had a facebook fanpage and twitter page for your business they might also come up before you.

Tbh from an search engine optimisation point of view its not a bad thing that yelp etc come up before you when you google your business name

What you want is that from an SEO point of view the keywords related to your website bring you up on the first page of google when you google them eg

If you site is about Plumbing and say you are in London

You want keywords such as
best plumber london
plumbers in london
london plumbers

To bring you up on the first page of google that really is what you want so dont worry too much about your business name becuase authority sites that have been around before your business or sites that have more auhtority than your site will probably come up first eg if you listed your business name on ebay for sale that listing might even come up before your site and yelp.

What you really want is someone to do the necessary search engine optimisation for your website.
