Star Trek is science fiction.

Hopefully, I don't need to go into the differences between fact and fiction.

It's fiction, but I like how they try to engineer things in such a way that it's theoretically plausible. And a lot of stuff they thought up ended up being invented like tablets, cell phones, video chat, etc.

No, Star Trek is not based on fact. It's science fiction.

Considering the vastness of our universe alone, I'd imagine interstellar travel has been achieved somewhere out there.

There is often a point where they jump past a possible reality in order to end the episode in an hour.

There was an episode where something caused evolution to speed up and it showed the humans evolving into some kind of worm. And that's important -- evolution doesn't always go in the direction of improvement (what we think of improvement).

But once they found the cause they were able to magically reverse it.

It's as if they found someone dead, and eventually figured out what killed them and that new knowledge allows them to bring the person back to life. When they do something like that, I'm disappointed.

Also, they imply that humans can interbreed with just about any humanoid alien.

That's silly. Everyone knows Star Wars is based on fact.
