Is asking for a roomate on facebook a good idea?

Here's the situation,
I'm a college student looking for an apartment for next, and right now I have to look for a roomate. I don't know who to ask, so I'm thinking about advertising it on facebook to see who reaches back to me.

Also, I can't have an apartment by myself because I can't afford it.

So is this a good approach?

Hell yeah it is, but also try Gumtree and Craigslist= both free and people you know. Very best of luck.

I would say yes. Most of the people on your facebook you trust with other details of your life so why not this?
Also you may want to try craigslist.com
They have an awesome section to rent our rooms and sublets.

Yeah advertise on facebook as well as putting up some flyers around campus and in buildings where students have class that's what they do at my school, or you can post it on craigslist too and that your looking for student roomates. Good luck

theres nothing wrong with that. people ask alot of off the wall questions on facebook? no biggie...

It's no different than advertising for a roommate anywhere else, but be careful. Meet the person first in a neutral location, and make sure that before they're added to your lease that the landlord/property manager has them fill out a regular application (usually $10-25 or so). If criminal stuff pops up, you'll want to know!
