Why does the info console not work on BBC iPlayer?

When I right click on something I'm watching on BBC iPlayer, then select info console, all that ever happens is a box appears in the top right saying "Info console" then on the next line, still within this box, it says "waiting for data..."

However, what it says in this box never changes, even when I watch Match of the Day on iPlayer and have it on for the whole 1 & a half hours, from the start to the end, it still doesn't say anything other than "info console" and "waiting for data".

Something else that seems strange about this is whenever I watch something somewhere else on the BBC website (i.e. a video that is with an article), the info console works fine there and shows me the info.

Anyone know why this might be the case and is anyone else getting the same problem?
