How Do I Get My Music Out?
Hey all, I am currently studying a Bachelor in Audio Engineering and Sound Production/Design in Australia, and I am finding it hard to get my music out. I have been producing Hip-Hop and R'n'B beats for about 7 years now, and I feel I am at the point of getting artists and marketing my music, but I'm finding the hardest thing at the moment is contacting a label and showing them what I am capable of, or even if I need to work for one. So I guess my question is; Where do I begin?. I have looked on several interviews regarding producers and how they got their music out, but all I find is the producer's saying they showed an artist their tracks but not exactly "how" they showed them or got in contact with them (E.g through internet, over the phone, mail.) If any one has any information please get back to me. Thanks for taking the time to read and answer Smile If you want to check out some of my tracks you can find me on "reverbnation" under the name "Jazza D" or I'll shortly post most my tracks on Twitter. Thanks..

If you're trying to get your tracks out and heard, I suggest setting up your own website first and showcasing your music from there and set your site to sell your music. Then take a couple of your produced tracks (instrumentals) and putting them on SoundClick. You will have to set up your own profile on Soundclick but it is worth it to gain some exposure. Also try selling your music on other sites like RockBattle and go head-to-head with other producers in a beat battle to gain some additional recognition.

Once you have set up profiles on these sites make sure you add a link back to your site so people can find you. These days this is the best way of developing some good relationships and gaining recognition for yourself. It takes time and hard work but worth it in the end. The days of walking into a Record Label and getting a contract are over and it's all about who you know to gain the kind of recognition that you're looking for. However, it isn't impossible and a LOT of producers have gotten on this way. Do your research though, and gain as much knowledge as you can. Also make sure your tracks are copywritten to protect your tracks. Best of success to you.
