How to advertise new competitive Dance Company?

I'm forming a new competitive dance company but I'm not sure what the best route is to advertise over the summer. I'm going to make flyers to put up on community boards in coffee houses, gas stations, grocery store and also something in the local newspapers, but I was wondering if anyone has any other ideas.

Social media (Facebook/Twitter) can also be a really good tool for advertising. Creating your own Facebook page for the dance company and regularly posting audition and meeting dates and times could get the information out to a lot of people.
