Why isn't google chrome functioning properly?

Whenever I go on Facebook The Instant Messenger never works and recently the whole facebook page will just freeze. The same goes for yahoo and a few other pages, which will either freeze or load incorrectly. Youtube videos won't even come up, because half the time it's a blank page.

Google Chrome used to be my favorite browser, but for the past few months it's been more of a hassle.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?
By the way, I've uninstalled and re-installed it before which did absolutely nothing to help.
