Internet speed problems?
So I am having problems with my crappy internet.
Here is the details my ISP says I should be at least getting 5Mbps on the next work communication status wired I get 100 and 48-50 wireless.
However when I run a speed test to a server 150 mi away my ping is ay where from 59 to 90 sitting. If I am doing simple task on net it will raise to over 100 and rocket to 300 sometimes. My Upload is 1.12Mbps and Download is 0.17 with my brother playing Ghost its 90/1.09/0.12
I cant watch netflix in low res with out if buffering some times in the middle or watch youtube in low res with out problems.
I also have never seen my NAT type open its alway going to moderate and strict.
I cant play any of the game I want with out some little delay and if some one need to a very simple task on the net I am lagging all over the place and cant move

My ISP is frontier communication, using the modem/router.

I am stuck with them nobody else here and to town resisted anyone else form coming in not even satellite internet.

Then town 6 miles away that own 5 of the miles between us has internet speeds quadrupling us and ping lower then 40, the people out in the country is even getting this.
The city 2 cities 18 mi away is getting at least 30.

Anyone got any information that might help? I talked with my ISP and they tell me there is nothing I could do but pay more to increase speed and the best they have is 6Mbps bu I a already to be getting 5Mbps.
I only live 1 block away from the hub less then 1 football field .
They are telling me 6 is the best they have. Yet my friend who is 5 miles away in the country for another town but 1 mile away from me is pulling at least 3Mbps better then what I am doing. There we can have 4 360s online playing Ghost and do some light stuff on my tablet or stream music form the computer and have no lag issues.

Is it my modem/router or internet setting? I don't know why I never get open NAT

A lot of internet providers have crappy service. Be sure that the internet is exactly what you are paying for. If it isn't, you have all the right to call them until they fix it completely.

If all they are offering in your area is 6 then that is the best your are going to get. Frontier uses stations for there dsl. Or a hub. You have to be within the range of that hub to get internet. So someone down the street from you might be closer so they get 6 while you only get 5.That's just the way dsl works. With 6 you really aren't going to be able to do two things at one time on the internet and have it not lag.If one person is gaming then whatever else you try isn't going to load very well. When and if they upgrade their system they may be able to offer you a faster speed.I have frontier and when I first got it I was getting 3 mbps the fastest they offered. They upgraded the system to 6 I got almost 6.Then they upgraded to 15 but by the time it got to my house the best I could get was 12.They currently have 25 mbps which of course I upgraded to as soon as it was available to my address. But again at my address I'm only get 20

If you are getting far less than 5mbps, there could be a problem with your wiring. We were getting intermittent drops in speed only to learn that squirrels had eaten through the insulation of the cable on the pole. You could connect directly to your modem and see if you get the 5mbps to rule out your router as the problem.
