Confused about ebooks, Can I read them on my computer or not?
I have a win8 computer and I want to download a ebook and read on my computer in pdf reader.
But I'm confused because it seems you can download the same ebook from many different places like apple itunes, nook, epub etc.. and that they make different versions of it so it only works with their software.

I don't have any ipad etc.. only my computer.

As long as your ebook is in the PDF format, you can read it in any regular PDF reader (like Adobe). Other versions exist for specific devices and they are mainly to give readers a choice of format.

For non-PDF formats like EPUB or MOBI, simply use a reader like Sumatra that works on any Windows PC. It's free and you can read ebooks in several formats (PDF, EPUB, MOBI, CBR, etc.)

If you want pdf format and if the file is available in some other format then you can convert that file into pdf format through some sites. Yes there are sites that convert it for you.
