why does my wii disconnect my router?

i just pulled out my wii from my closest which has been in there for years and i connected it to the internet through wifi. once it was testing it my router goes messed up not the wifi but the main modem. it checked my iPad and phone there is no internet so i turn off my modem and turn it back on and it works anyone know why???

the wii is being assigned the same address your other devices use , go to the DHCP page and reserve addresses for each device ( all different)
