Craigslist is intended to replace local newspaper classified ads, they recommend only selling face to face, to someone in your city. You essentially are on your own they do not validate the sellers in any significant way, there are scams there, including Nigerians offering to pay more than selling price with a bad check. Good for selling something that needs in person inspection before selling. Craigslist ads are mostly free.

Ebay keeps records of buyer and seller ratings that you can lookup before doing business with someone. Best for things that ship easily that have lower chances of being returned.

craigslist is better because you get to keep all your profits unlike splitting some with ebay.

You should sell on Ebay. Ebay is much more safer than Craigslist and Ebay offers more protection/security. Since you are a new seller, you should create a new account/online store on Ebay and first build your reputation. You should sell at low prices at first and should include free shipping on most of your items. Try to sell new/almost new/good items. These kind of incentives attract the consumer and will give that person a reason for purchasing from you. You should build on your rating and you should provide fast and quality shipping. DO NOT SCAM PEOPLE ON EBAY. Be nice and honest and provide good detailed specifications about the particular item. Once you build a name for yourself, you can raise your prices and do what you want.
