How do I switch off the Pop-Up Message Box and just have the Message History thread?

When I want to send someone a message (in facebook), I get a 'Pop-Up' box (instead of the usual message history page).
- is there any way to switch it off?


PS: I am Aware that there is a link on the pop-up box which will allow me to short-cut to the message history page, but its an annoying 2-step process.

You Can Not Turn it off if they Are online on Chat the Pop Up Box will Appear Chat and Messages are Pretty Much the Same Thing

click the settings link in the popup box and turn off the chat feature
