ie9 started opening new tabs with new sites with no settings being changed?

I use ie9 and when I did a search with yahoo, bing & google and clicked on a link the new site opened in the existing tab but now for some reason it has started opening the new sites in new tabs and I have not touched any of the settings. Does anyone now how I can change this back?

Are you sure it isn't just the site you're using at the moment? It's possible to write the web code for a link so that it opens in a new tab. However, if sites that don't normally do that are now doing it, read through here and see if it helps:
