Firefox not responding upon startup?
Recently, every time I open a window to Firefox, it doesn't work for 20 seconds. It's really starting to annoy me and I don't know what's causing it.

I installed nothing new.

Do you have 4gb ram? Also what kind off add-on do you have? 20sec is not that long if you have relatively slow laptop with add-ons. Of course there's chance that marginally bad sector is causing long retry cycles.

Clean the computer up.
Delete the internet cache, the temporary internet files.

Or clean it good:
google CCleaner free (I trust cnet for the download)

After you clean all the pages and cookies you may have to logon to your sites again,
checking the box remember me again.
Then in CCleaner Options: Cookies: You can choose those as "Cookies to Keep" in future.

If it's still slow open a task manager and monitor Processes click CPU twice.
Watch to see what is busy and eating up CPU %

I noticed this today.

I just spent the last few hours fiddling around with stuff, i found this solution to work:

Goto Help at the top of the menu bar and select Troubleshooting Information, under Application Basics click on Show Folder, this will bring up your 'Profile' in a window on the desktop.

Go back to the troubleshooting page in Firefox and up in the top right hand corner it will have a 'Reset Firefox' button. Click that and check the profile folder to make sure everything is erased. This will reset everything in Firefox, so backup any bookmarks etc..

For some reason an uninstall didn't clear this profile, which is why i was unsuccessful when reinstalling Firefox, but this will clear everything back to defualt. It worked for me, so i hope it does for you also.
