How to unfollow twitter user without them noticing?

I follow too many people on twitter. I want to only follow people I know. But if I unfollow people I will lose followers. Is there a fast and easy way to unfollow without people noticing?

If you have that much important to say, they your followers will not leave. As for unfollowing people, they are not going to know unless they memorize everyone on the follower list and they periodically check.
