What type of advertising or promotional element does Facebook use?

What type of advertising or promotional element does Facebook use when its application comes automatically installed on your phone? Or other companies say "Find us on Facebook". We are doing a marketing research paper, and we cannot find what unpaid advertising is considered, what is that called? Does Facebook receive payments from Blackberry or Apple for installing the application, or do they pay for the phones to come with them?

2) Facebook provides you with a a code of "Find us on facebook" a like box and all other stuffs.
