Firefox vs. Google Chrome Which works better for an HP running on Windows Vista?

My science teacher recommended that I should stop using Internet Explorer and start using either firefox of google chrome. He said that google chrome is better but it depends on what kind of computer you have. It could probably run slower than firefox on some. But I would like to know which do you have and which one works better.

From what I've read, Safari is the fastest, with Chrome a very close second, and Firefox third.
