After you delete your temps and defrag the system you should run a virus scan
this should be done weekly to keep your computer clean and work its best.
If you can't do what it asks take it Staples the guys there will clean it up usually for free.
Don't you have Microsoft Esstenials? or Norton? or MacAfee installed you should have
at least one program that checks these things.

Try updating yo antivirus. 2 try baking up yo files to an external dsk then free your machines memory. 3 try istalling another system software. Why am I sayin diz coz your PC might have a newly or updated virus that is replicating its self faster than you expect. Be fast before yo machine if fully corupted

The best free virus searcher is avira free antivirus. If your computer is already infected however, you have to download the iso-file (burn image) of the rescue CD and boot the computer from CD ROM. Another idea is to download a burn image of KNOPPIX from Knoppix.org and to start the computer from a LINUX LIVE DVD, which can be downloaded for free from the KNOPPIX homepage. It runs a LINUX live session completely from DVD, nothing is installed. KNOPPIX first checks all of your hardware for errors. That question then can be answered. With LINUX you can accesss and manipulate all files Windows does not even want you to see. Be careful however not to delete important system files. From Windows XP times I remember that it had the ugly feature of cramming the C:/ partition with "temp" files until it did not run anymore or ran like in slow motion with the little rest of free disk capacity. (Your video most likely was stored in that "temp" folder and not deleted when Windows crashed. If it still works, just right click on C:/ , then "properties" and then "clean" or something similar (I have Windows 7 in German and French. I do not remember the exact English expression in Windows XP) . After a menu opens showing some files possible to be cleaned, click on: clean system files. The same pop up will appear with some more files. Make the hook into each category. You most likely have 200 GB of "temporary" and another 500 GB of "temporary internet files" on your disk leaving some KB of free space for the operating sytem's swap file. XP requires 10% of the hard disk as free space, otherwise your computer will run as you describe it or it will not run anymore at all. With that bad habit Windows XP sometimes drove me crazy. If its is a software spamming your disk full of temps, you have to go into system settings first, then "folder options" and remove the hook from "don't show hidden files". Then you will be able to search manually with the Windows Explorer for "temps" and delete them all manually. ("Temp") means "temporary". Normally those files should be written on the disk during the session only and be deleted during the shutdown of the operating system. That however does not work during crashes, shutdowns by cutting electricity or other failures. Over the years and even in one single session an incredible amount of hidden garbage can be collected on your hard disk. )
