Windows 7 losing internet connection on steam?
When I am in a game like Dota 2 I lose internet connection for 4-5 seconds then the game starts again. I play 5 minutes then i lose again the internet connection. When I play Ava every time when I join a server I have the internet connection problem and that problem stops the game. Also I have this problem in non-steam games, like Minecraft. When I am in multiplayer i get lagging and the game stops because i lose the internet connection. I have this problems only on Windows 7, I tested it on Windows 8 and it works perfectly. I don't get any errors, just I lose the internet connection. I hope you'll help me!
P.S. I use a computer so I am not connected on wireless

Open the network connections and make sure they are enabled. This is very important if you are using wireless on a Laptop computer. Then reboot.

If your using wireless, try running hardwired and see if the problem is the Internet connection/router or the wireless. When gaming it's preferred to be hardwired vs wireless.

When doing troubleshooting start with the basic elements (in this case the "physical" connection) and work towards the more abstract, i.e something in your PC configuration.

Well since both of the other two comments are about laptops and you said you are on a desktop, you can try their suggestions. They may help.

With Steam, my client loses connectivity when there is a Steam update. Steam doesn't do a great job of telling you there is an update. I would check that first. You can also go to library page and right click on a game and verify the install.

This may help with Steam games, but won't help with the others that lose connectivity. I assume you are on DSL or cable. If not, you could actually be losing your connection from your provider. Once you eliminate that as a possibility, you can check your device manager and right click on your network card and uncheck the box that lets windows turn off your LAN card to save power. Sometimes, Windows may think it is doing you a favor by going into a power saving mode and actually turn off your network card. This typically, doesn't get disabled when you are actively using the machine, but could have an effect if your power management settings are not correct.

If none of this works, I would check your event log and see if anything is actually throwing an error. It would be indicated by the time stamp of when you lost connectivity and would be marked in the event log by a red circle with a white X in the middle. The event log can be vague, but could also point to a driver or hardware failure.

Good luck!
