What are the laws when discussing slander?
I recently got into a argument via fb of course with a younger sibling in which she told my parents i currently smoke pot, post it on fb and started ranting about things that were anywhere from 6 months to two years ago. I work in a place where that accusation alone is grounds for termination. My other sister told me the younger sister was saying this about me and because the other sister also works in the same place she would have to report it to work if she herself saw it. Of course i have never written on the internet i get high. I admit i do but i honestly passed my works drug test. During this rant over fb i pointed out my younger sisters flaws. Like how she use to smoke pot and asked her in question like form if her bf did too and asked it he was in rehab and such. He contacted me last night to tell me i slandered his name and was calling the cops. Im pretty sure that questions are not slander. Which i tried to explain. Am i wrong?

Well first of all, they never slandered you, if you're thinking they did. Saying you smoke pot when you actually do is not slander.

I wouldn't worry about the boyfriend either. You didn't make any factually untrue statements, you just asked questions. Also, even if you said "He smokes pot" and was slanderous, the cops wouldn't get involved. He would just be able to sue you in court if he can prove damages from your slander (like losing his job)

Simple, if something is the truth or generally believed to be the truth, then it is not slander.

The cops don't get involved with accusation of slander. Slander is a civil issue; it is not criminal.
