Making doctors appointment - I'm 14!?
I need to speak to a doctor but my parents won't take me to see them... It is about a possible eating disorder but they are refusing to acknowledge that there might be a problem. Will the doctor's surgery allow me to make an appointment by myself or will I require a parent due to my minority?

Many thanks in advance. x

Yes you can because they wont know if you are you or mum, call the number and ask for an appointment with Doctor ?, they will tell you when one is available and ask for date of birth, give them details and go for the appointment but is there a teacher or guidance teacher you can talk to about your problem and they can arrange help for you, Good Luck

You could talk to your school nurse or call the NHS helpline? Also if you think you have an ED taking the first step and realising you have a problem is really positive. Talk to your parents, they should understand if your struggling, if you explain they might be more supportive.

Wow, well done for acknowledging you may have a problem! If you live in America, it may be different to me- but I'd say you probably could make a doctors appointment without parental consent as long as it wasn't in school time but the worst they could do is deny you an appointment- you could try talking to a nurse at school? In England, some schools have specific teachers that have been employed to help the children with mental or eating disorders

If you want to talk about it, I've been through similar things so if you have twitter you can DM me @bethauntsally or if you have Kik bethmayv Smile hope you find help soon!!
